THE ESSENCE OF STORYTELLING

“Storytelling is among the oldest forms of communication. Storytelling is the commonality of all human beings, in all places, in all times.”
Rives Collins

In the tapestry of communication, every thread matters. Every word, every pause, every inflection - they all have a story. And who better to unfold these stories than a professional voice actor, who is not just a voice, but a mother, an actor and an entrepreneur, breathing life into stories, infusing them with warmth, depth, and humanity. With every word spoken, a new world is born, a character awakens, and an emotion stirs.

MORE THAN A VOICE

In a world where digital voices echo, the soulful touch of a human voice stands out. It’s a reminder that at the core of every great story is the human spirit - vibrant, resonant, and alive. Your voice actor is more than a voice; they are the heartbeat of your narrative, the human connection that turns a simple message into a memorable experience.

TRANSFORMING WORDS

Your words are lying dormant on a page, waiting for breath to bring it to life. This is where the magic of a professional narrator comes into play. Understanding that a story told is an experience shared. It’s not just about conveying information; it's about creating an emotional journey for the listener. This is the essence of storytelling - to transform words into a living, breathing narrative.

MORE THAN A NARRATOR

As a classically trained actor, I bring over 30 years of experience on the stage to the microphone, as well as extensive voice acting training. This has honed my skills in understanding narrative flow, and emotional resonance - crucial elements in voice acting, whether telling the story of a product a person or a business.

THE LISTENER experience

Every story is unique, and so is every listener. I tailor my narration to suit the specific needs of your story and your audience. It's about striking the perfect balance between engaging storytelling and respectful narration, ensuring that your listeners are not just hearing a story, but living it.

BEYOND READING

For me, audiobooks are not just about reading words on a page; they are about creating an immersive experience. I dive deep into the characters, embracing their personalities, understanding their motivations, and bringing them to life with nuanced vocal performances. My approach goes beyond narration; it's about embodying the essence of each character and the overall tone of the story, all while being acutely conscious of the listener's experience.

Home Studio

Purpose-built studio

Like many Voice Actors, my home studio started as a cupboard lined with blankets. I am pleased to say my studio is now a little more spacious. Purpose-built to my specifications in 2019, my studio is sound treated and has been tested by engineers from The Showreel in London.

I work with a Neumann TLM102 Microphone, which suits my voice perfectly and use an Audient ID4 interface. I edit and master my work to your specifications using the latest Adobe Audition software.

I also sponsor a local community studio, where I have access to an Esmono Booth, a Zoom L8 mixing desk and 4 Shure SM7b microphones and 2 Rode NT1 Microphes. This booth can accommodate up to four actors for multi-cast work such as audio drama and can also be used for podcast recording.

theatre

over 30 years on the stage

I first entered a theatre when I was 11, I was dragged along to the local youth theatre by my next door neighbour. While I was always ‘putting on plays’ for my family and friends, using my reluctant sisters as the cast. I hadn’t really seriously thought about actually going on stage. But then I entered The Little Theatre in Donnington Telford. It’s an ex military hut and although not traditionally glamorous it was beautiful and welcoming, I fell in love with the place and people and most of my childhood was spent there. Anyone who looks down on community or amateur theatre hasn’t spent enough time with them , they are populated by dedicated, passionate and talented people and for me, they shaped my childhood and ultimately my life. Thanks the support of this and other little theatres that I was able to go to Drama School in London in 1998. Since then I have continued to work both professionally and with community Theatre’s up and down the country.
